V0.1 Description¶

Prototype 1 - This version of the Ground Sphere will address the issues discovered in the GS-001 Prototype 2 and demonstrate signal reception at or near 915MHz. Specifically, Prototype 1 will include a preamp to deal with the signal losses of the mechanical connections which replaced the soldered joints to simplify assembly, and it will be physically tuned to operate at 915MHz.

Note, this is a proof of concept prototype. It's sole focus is to verify the GS-001 design can be made to work with mechanical connections at 915MHz. Final design considerations such as powering the preamp off of the software defined radio USB dongle and kit packaging/assembly will not be addressed at this time. Instead, the focus will be on quickly testing the design modifications to ensure the project can move forward with confidence.
