h1. Assembly Instructions

toc

Below are the assembly instructions for the v0.2 *Holoseat* controller. This version Remember, this is built using a generic prototyping shield, so soldering (and schematic reading) breadboard level prototype. While it is required. fully functional, the lack of permanent solder joints makes it unsuitable for long term use in the "real world". Later versions will come on If you want a custom PCB to simplify permanent version, consider skipping the assembly process. mini-breadboard and soldering the components directly onto the prototype board.

h2. Step 0 - Acquire the parts of the v0.2 *Holoseat*

See the Bill of Materials for complete list of components.

h2. Step 1 - Attach hookup wire to two RJ-25 jacks (HS013)

Make sure to strip one end of each wire and to reverse the colors between the jacks (so one jack should connect red/black and the other green/yellow). Be sure to add the back covers to the jacks after attaching the hookup wire.

Note the use of wires from a Cat5 cable as the hookup wire.

h2. Step 2 - Attach lead wires from one RJ-25 jack (HS013) to the reed switch (HS003)

Make sure one lead is attached to the common terminal (COM) and the other is attached to the normally open (NO) terminal.

h2. Step 3 - Attach the reed switch (HS003) to the exercise equipment

Use the adhesive backing and zip ties (HS006) to ensure the reed switch is secure.

h2. Step 4 - Attach Large Ceramic Magnet (HS012) to the exercise equipment

Use zip ties (HS006) to attach the magnet onto the pedal or similar part of the exercise equipment.

h2. Step 5 - Wire the RJ-25 jack (HS013) to the prototype board (HS002)

Wire this component in place of the reed switch (HS003). Refer to the Detailed Design for more information on how to wire the reed switch to the *Holoseat*.

h2. Step 6 - Wire the toggle switch (HS004) to the prototype board (HS002)

Refer to the Detailed Design for more information on how to wire the toggle switch to the *Holoseat*.

h2. Step 7 - Wire the LED (HS005) to the prototype shield (HS002)

Refer to the Detailed Design for more information on how to wire the LED to the *Holoseat*.

h2. Step 8 - Attach protoshield (HS002) to Arduino Leonardo (HS001)

Make sure the pins line up and gently but firmly press the protoshield down until it stops. The pins will still be showing as can be seen in the photo.

h2. Step 9 - Plug the coiled phone cord (HS014) into the RJ-25 jack (HS013) connected to the reed switch (HS003)

Wrap any excess phone cord around the exercise equipment.

h2. Step 10 - Plug the coiled phone cord (HS014) into the RJ-25 jack (HS013) connected to the protoshield (HS002)
