h1. Assembly Instructions

toc

Below are the assembly instructions for the v0.2 *Holoseat* controller. Remember, this is a breadboard level prototype. While it is fully functional, the lack of permanent solder joints makes it unsuitable for long term use in the "real world". If you want a permanent version, consider skipping the mini-breadboard and soldering the components directly onto the prototype board.

h2. Step 0 - Acquire the parts of the v0.2 *Holoseat*

See the Bill of Materials for complete list of components.

h2. Step 1 - Attach hookup wire the mini-breadboard (HS011) to two RJ-25 jacks (HS013) the protoshield (HS002)

Peel the backing paper off of the mini-breadboard and place as shown. Make sure not to strip one end cover the pin labels on either row of each wire and headers (the pin labels for the lower row of pin headers are covered in the photo above).

h2. Step 2 - Attach protoshield (HS002)
to reverse the colors between Arduino Leonardo (HS001)

Make sure
the jacks (so one jack should connect red/black pins line up and gently but firmly press the other green/yellow). Be sure to add protoshield down until it stops. The pins will still be showing as can be seen in the back covers photo.

h2. Step 3 - Wire ground pin and 5v pin
to separate rows on mini-breadboard

The lower row is wired to
the jacks after attaching ground pin, the hookup wire.

Note
upper row is wired to the use of wires from a Cat5 cable as the hookup wire. 5v pin.

h2. Step 2 4 - Attach lead wires from one RJ-25 jack (HS013) to the reed switch (HS003)

Make sure one lead is attached to the common terminal (COM) and the other is attached to the normally open (NO) terminal.

h2. Step 3 5 - Attach the reed switch (HS003) to the exercise equipment

Use the adhesive backing and zip ties (HS006) to ensure the reed switch is secure.

h2. Step 4 6 - Attach Large Ceramic Magnet (HS012) to the exercise equipment

Use zip ties (HS006) to attach the magnet onto the pedal or similar part of the exercise equipment.

h2. Step 5 7 - Wire the RJ-25 jack (HS013) reed switch (HS003) to the prototype board (HS002) mini-breadboard (HS011)

Wire this component in place of the reed switch (HS003).
Refer to the Detailed Design for more information on how to wire the reed switch to the *Holoseat*.

h2. Step 6 8 - Wire the toggle switch (HS004) to the prototype board (HS002) mini-breadboard (HS011)

Refer to the Detailed Design for more information on how to wire the toggle reed switch to the *Holoseat*.

h2. Step 7 9 - Wire the LED (HS005) to the prototype shield (HS002) mini-breadboard (HS011)

Refer to the Detailed Design for more information on how to wire the LED to the *Holoseat*.

h2. Step 8 - Attach protoshield (HS002) to Arduino Leonardo (HS001)

Make sure the pins line up and gently but firmly press the protoshield down until it stops. The pins will still be showing as can be seen in the photo.

h2. Step 9 - Plug the coiled phone cord (HS014) into the RJ-25 jack (HS013) connected to the
reed switch (HS003)
