Promoting ODE

Added by J. Simmons over 10 years ago

One of our objectives to support continued growth of ODE is to spread the word so more makers and OSHW developers know it is an option for project hosting. To that end, I am starting this thread to get the ball rolling on thinking about where and how to promote ODE.

First place I have found to discuss is the OSHWA Best Practices Page and the OSHWA FAQ (I figure if we can get on one, we can get on the other).

I sent an email to the FAQ maintainer saying:

Thanks for posting the question about regulations on the OSHWA FAQ. If it is in bounds to ask, I would like to see if you would add a reference to Open Design Engine (https://opendesignengine.net/) to the answer for the "When and how should I share my design files?" question.

Mach 30 launched Open Design Engine last year specifically to address the need for a more hardware oriented project hosting portal. It is still in development, but already a number of users have reported how essential it is to their OSHW projects (including ones that were at the 2013 Open Hardware Summit).

I have not heard any response (I sent the email on Oct 6). Thoughts?

I'm not seeing that question on their FAQ. Are you trying to get the question added, or are am I just missing it?

Sorry, linked the wrong FAQ. There is an OSHWA FAQ (which I linked to before) and an OSHWA hosted OSHW FAQ which is what I meant to link to.
